The Kraken Bitcoin Exchange Works Again

On Thursday, January 11, the cryptocurrency exchange Kraken went offline for scheduled maintenance. The maintenance should not last longer than 3 hours, but the exchange site was not available for more than 48 hours. Many investors began to panic.

From today, the European Kraken Bitcoin Exchange site is again available after long technical work and updating the trading algorithm. Now users have the opportunity to trade without commissions as an apology for such a long wait.

All opened orders were closed at the moment of the beginning of technical work by the representatives of the exchange. All funds were returned to the users’ accounts. Margin trading positions remain open, but the liquidation is suspended for 48 hours. In addition, opening of new margin positions in the next 48 hours will be inaccessible.

Kraken also froze the withdrawal of funds for at least 12 hours. At the same time, it can take up to two business days to create a deposit. It is worth noting that Kraken fulfilled promises – it will not charge commissions for non-margin trading until January 31. Moreover, commissions for trading with shoulder pattern are reduced to 0.005%.

Massive outrage on social media

The representatives of the exchange regularly informed users about the progress of technical work and assured that all funds are in safety. Despite the connection with the exchange, some users did not hide their indignation. They threatened Kraken to file collective suits. First of all, investors were frustrated because they failed to purchase XRP tokens after the announcement of cooperation Ripple with MoneyGram.
